Accounting Manager


We are hiring an Accounting Manager who plans and directs the accounting activities of the department. The Accounting Manager prepares and maintains financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, and other related financial activities. The Accounting Manager also oversees and supervises the payroll functions of the organization, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.


Establishes internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation.

Oversees preparation of business activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets.

Organizes and leads weekly meetings with ownership to communicate information, guidance, and best practices.

Prepares the production of periodic financial reports, including monthly balance sheets and profit and loss statements; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards.

Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.

Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.

Reconciles credit card accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections.

Creates and submits invoices to customers; verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to appropriate accounts.

Facilitates payment of vendors; ensures employer identification numbers or social security numbers have been collected from all vendors to prepare and submit 1099s.

Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing and accounting systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.

Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes in pay rates.

Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.

Other duties to support the accounting department, as needed.


Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required.

Eight years or more of related experience preferred.

Expert knowledge of QuickBooks.

Proficient with payroll software.

Excellent leadership skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.

Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.


Knowledge of Paylocity a plus.
