Top 5 Things We are Looking Forward to in 2022


2021 was one for the books! From start to finish, we’ve seen the events and exhibitions industry evolve in ways we couldn’t imagine before the pandemic changed everything. We’ve witnessed a rise in virtual events at the start of the year and a shift toward hybrid events near the end, the latter of which implementing both face-to-face and virtual spaces. 

As we look in the rearview mirror at 2021 and the wealth of knowledge and refined expertise that came from it, we’ve never been more excited for the road ahead. Here are our top five drives and things we’re looking forward to in 2022.

1. Perfecting Hybrid Events

Hybrid events are largely a new development for our industry. Face-to-face events were not only commonplace but second nature to us at CNTV in the days before the pandemic. With a large percentage of the population fully vaccinated, the landscape is shifting once again for meeting safely in person with the option for audiences to participate virtually. 

Over the course of 2021, we partnered with many of our clients to capture and produce content for successful hybrid events which have utilized numerous forms of production, including:

  • Sending a team comprised of our award-winning producers, videographers, and video editors on site to capture content.
  • Recording virtual presentations ahead of time and streaming them on show dates.
  • Live streaming on site virtual presentations, panels, discussions, or talks. 

In December 2021, CNTV partnered with the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) in Philadelphia for a hybridized Expo! Expo!. Widely renowned as “The Show for Shows”, Expo! Expo! is the event if you play a role in international events and conferences. 

During IAEE’s Expo! Expo!, the CNTV team was everywhere from producing the general sessions, capturing live mobile sessions, and creating highlight videos each day. 

CNTV live streamed interviews with exhibitors for the virtual audience to watch in real time.

With hybrid events on the rise, we’re thrilled to apply all that we’ve accomplished and learned throughout 2021 to continue to produce video content for an experience that harnesses the best of both worlds.

2. Augmenting ‘CNTV NOW’, Our Very Own Virtual Platform

This past year, CNTV has been excited to introduce our very own virtual platform, ‘CNTV NOW’, a game-changing virtual platform tailored for your virtual or hybrid event needs. Some of what distinguishes CNTV NOW includes:

  • A fully customizable lobby 
  • Unique networking integrations where attendees can connect with one another via chat or video call
  • Reports and statistics on attendee engagement
  • Gamification capabilities to encourage engagement among attendees

With many hybrid and virtual events having used ‘CNTV NOW, we’ve not only better equipped ourselves to fulfill our clients’ and partners’ respective visions regarding their content but we’ve established CNTV as an all-in-one video content production and distribution outlet. 

From August 30 through September 2, 2021, we teamed up with the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA) to produce on site and virtual content for the hybridized NCURA 63rd Annual Meeting. 

What’s more, we hosted the hybrid Annual Meeting on the CNTV NOW platform where thousands of attendees joined from around the country. 

As we head into 2022, we’re excited to further innovate and enhance CNTV NOW into a necessity for virtual and hybrid conferences. 

3.  Continued Creative Event and Exhibition Planning

The pandemic has single-handedly been the source of drastic change for meetings over the past several years. With that in mind, however, it has stimulated in us a sense of creativity and perseverance to meet safely. 

Before 2020, virtual meetings and hybrid events seemed far less commonplace. If asked, many event planners who have coordinated face-to-face conferences pre-COVID might not have normally considered virtual or even hybrid approaches. In order for the industry as a whole to persevere, we needed to get creative. 

Industry leaders have needed to adapt their events from what was a tried-and-true practice into uncharted territory, shifting their event agendas in the virtual space. While it hasn’t been easy, the uncompromising sense of perseverance and creativity has been nothing short of inspiring. Many of the shows we’ve produced content for throughout the past year have truly undergone revamping:

  • Pivoting in-person keynotes and demonstrations to fully online sessions
  • Virtual networking through new softwares and avenues
  • Engineering virtual exhibitor booths in lieu of physical booths

While our partners, clients, and all of us at CNTV have garnered a wealth of knowledge and experience from this new normal, we’re excited to see how and where we can continue to innovate and inspire within our industry traversing into the new year. 

4. Larger Return of Face-To-Face Events

While we’ve built upon our repertoire of virtual events in 2020 and hybrid events in 2021, we’re excited and hopeful to return to our roots of more face-to-face events as the numbers of fully vaccinated individuals rise. 

Innovations of meeting safely continue to evolve with time. New regulations, enhancements in sanitization technology, and best practices are regularly in the works for the end goal of reconvening and networking in person again. While a great deal of gratitude is owed to designs in the virtual space that have helped us persevere through the pandemic era, we’ve truly missed personal connectivity. After all, that’s what our industry is all about!

5. Building Upon Current Partnerships and Fostering New Ones
